Day 1
Edinburgh Departure: The Royal Highland Route
Your day begins in Edinburgh's historic heart, where centuries of Scottish history echo through ancient streets. As we depart the capital, the morning light illuminates the iconic Forth Bridges – an engineering marvel spanning three centuries. Our first pause comes at a hidden viewpoint beloved by local photographers, offering a perspective of these magnificent structures rarely seen by visitors.
The morning unfolds at majestic Stirling Castle, where your guide reveals tales of royal intrigue and Scottish determination that shaped a nation and as afternoon approaches, we discover the magic of Deanston Distillery, housed within the historic walls of a converted 18th-century cotton mill. Here, beside the rushing waters of the River Teith, you'll experience the craft of whisky-making and enjoy an exclusive tasting of their finest expressions.
Glasgow Departure: The Lochs & Legends Route
Setting out from Glasgow's cultural west end, your Highland journey begins by following the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. Our first stop welcomes you to the enchanting village of Luss, where ancient stone cottages line flower-filled paths leading to a hidden beach. Here, on the peaceful shores of Scotland's (2nd?) most famous loch, we'll pause for morning coffee while drinking in views that have inspired poets for centuries and, if you’re feeling up to it- we can go for a wild swim and warm up in a loch side sauna!
The afternoon brings us to the mystical Falls of Falloch, known in Gaelic folklore as the 'Falls of Sorrow'. Then, at Glengoyne Distillery, you'll experience a unique phenomenon – a whisky distilled in the Highlands but matured in the Lowlands, straddling the historic Highland Line that once divided Scotland's cultures.
The Highland Convergence
As both routes merge into the heart of the Highlands, the true majesty of Glencoe unfolds before you. Here, in this valley of ghosts and legends, your guide will share tales of the infamous massacre that shaped Highland history, leading you to viewpoints that speak of both tragedy and triumph.
Day Two: Hidden Glencoe
Dawn brings new adventures, beginning with an optional wild swimming experience in the crystal-clear waters of Lochan Urr. Those who brave the invigorating Highland waters are rewarded with a gourmet picnic breakfast prepared with local delicacies. The day unfolds with exploration of the hidden Valley of Thieves, where centuries ago cattle raiders sought refuge among towering peaks.
In dramatic Glen Nevis, walk in the shadow of Britain's highest mountain to the spectacular Steall Falls. Here, the brave can test their nerve on the wire bridge crossing, while others capture perfect photos of the cascading waters. The afternoon leads us into Glen Etive's ancient oak woodlands, where red deer roam freely and golden eagles soar overhead – a glimpse of Scotland's wild heart rarely seen by casual visitors.
A Journey For All Seasons
While available year-round, each season brings its own Highland magic. Spring carpets the glens with wildflowers, summer evenings stretch toward midnight, autumn paints the hills in gold and purple, and winter transforms the mountains into a frosted wonderland. We will adapt each journey to make the most of Scotland's dynamic weather and light.
